When AfterBurn was released in 1998, it became a huge hit and was immediately considered the de facto standard for volumetric particle effects for Autodesk 3ds Max. It was initially used to help blast Bruce Willis into space in Armageddon, and over the years has helped companies like Computer Cafe, Blur, Uncharted Territory, Tigar-Hare, Digital Dimension and countless other facilities create stunning smoke trails, dust and explosions in their work. FumeFX also takes advantage of the mental ray(tm) and Arnold rendering technology so that vfx houses with vast render farms (even those running Linux) can quickly render out fire that creates scene lighting.
